Raison d'être
Grand Challenge AI considers the challenges others may not even consider. Some ask Why? We ask Why Not?. The Intelligence Age of AI offers up significant opportunities to all of society, we need to all work together to ensure we embrace this novel technology together in standard way to assure our responsible development & use in order for it to work for us all and not against us. Our pillars for success require investigation into research gaps which we observe, applied in projects we prioritize, to ultimately aim to generalise by influencing national, European and international standards.
Example Research
Libya Green : Transforming Libya
Libya’s vulnerability to climate change, marked by extreme temperatures, water scarcity, desertification, and increasing frequency of severe weather events, is underscored as a pressing concern. This results of this research emphasise the interconnectedness of ecological degradation and climate instability, advocating for a holistic approach to restoring Libya’s natural systems.

Example Project
TOBO the robo : Assured by Design
Our aim is to develop a robotic ecosystem for educating children and young adults. To be effective it is essential to understand their top learning objectives. Recent studies highlight the following key learning needs:
- Connection to Real Life: Students need to see how their learning connects to real-world applications and future careers.
- Experiential Learning: They prefer hands-on, experiential learning methods, such as interactive projects and simulations.
- Personalized Learning: Tailored educational experiences that cater to individual learning styles and preferences are crucial.
- Technological Integration: As digital natives, Gen Z and AI aware adults now expect the integration of advanced technology in their learning process.
- Collaborative Learning: Social and collaborative learning environments where they can interact and share ideas with peers are highly valued.
TOBO has a development roadmap to address all these needs and so much more.
Standards

National Standards
BSI is the national body for standardisation in the United Kingdom. We have supported the development of British Standards for over 25 years and have representation on the national committee for continuity and resilience. Our significant contributions have been the genesis for the need for Business Continuity Standardisation which led to the formation of the working group responsible for development of BS25999. Later in 2015 we also influenced the formation of standardisation for the development of the UK City Resilience standard BS67000.

European Standards
CEN is the European body for standardisation and we have representation in the consideration of standards relating to Critical National Infrastructure risk and Global Catastrophic Risk (GCR).

International Standards
ISO is the international standards organisation and as a committee member for over a decade in technical committee TC 292 for Security and Resilience we have supported several working groups influencing and contributing to the development of international standards for City, Energy, Infrastructure and Societal Resilience to name a few.
